Go Home Safe

The ‘Go Home Safe’ Campaign, a collaboration between Chorley Women's Centre and CTA, aims to ensure the safety of women and vulnerable individuals in Chorley. This initiative specifically focuses on addressing safety concerns related to taxis, especially those coming from outside the Chorley Borough. Unfortunately, fake taxis in neighboring towns have posed a significant threat to women, endangering our communities. By partnering with the women's center, CTA aims to enhance safety measures within Chorley Borough. If any woman feels the need to discuss safety concerns, please reach out to Chorley Women Centre for assistance.

It is strongly advised that residents of Chorley Borough exercise caution when using taxis, as there have been reports of fake taxis operating in nearby towns. To ensure your safety, make sure to choose Chorley Licensed Taxis for your transportation needs.

  • Before getting into a taxi, ask the driver to show you their taxi license badge. You have every right to ask.

  • At the back of the taxi vehicle and door it should show signage of what vehicle number it is, take a picture if you are unsure.

  • The council is currently developing a system that will allow you to verify the license number of a taxi through the Chorley Council website, which was discussed in the LLP meeting on January 29, 2024 (pending implementation).

  • Look for CTA stickers on the front screen of the taxi, as these indicate that the driver is a member of the Chorley local taxi association, which only accepts licensed Chorley drivers.

  • Additionally, the driver possess a CTA membership card if they are a member of the Chorley Taxi Association, and their membership number should match their council license number.
