Amy, a proud Chorley resident, discovered her passion for cars and driving nearly a decade ago when she began her career in private hire. Alongside her work on the road, she plays a vital role with the NHS 111 team, providing assessments and advice to patients. A qualified swimming instructor as well, Amy’s dedication to helping others shines through in everything she does, whether it’s behind the wheel, in the water, or within her community.

Co-Founder / Co Chair - Shaz Malik
Shaz Malik is the Co-Founder of CTA, promoting fairness, respect, and unity within Chorley’s taxi trade. A respected business consultant and board member of the National Private Hire & Taxi Association (NPHTA), he helped lead the 2020 merger that united two rival firms and Chorley’s oldest taxi company. Working with UCLan to improve safety standards, Shaz remains focused on driver welfare, passenger safety, and supporting community growth across the taxi industry.

Co-Founder / Co Chair - Mohmed Esa
Based in Chorley, Mohmed Esa is a respected businessman and former youth worker with Lancashire County Council. Many years ago, he owned and ran a successful farm before changing career paths. With 28 years of experience as a hackney driver, Mohammed brings deep industry knowledge and strong community insight. As CTA Director, he continues to champion drivers’ interests and work for lasting improvements across Chorley’s taxi trade.

Director / Co Vice Chair - Rashid Sohail
Rashid, a proud Chorley resident and successful businessman, brings over 20 years of experience as a licensed vehicle operator across two boroughs, including 17 years as both a hackney carriage and private hire driver. Having worked on both sides of the trade, he understands what drivers, operators, and customers need to thrive. Alongside his taxi career, Rashid also runs a horse stable business, combining his passion for enterprise, hard work, and the outdoors.

Director / Co Vice Chair - Abdul Javeed
Abdul Javeed, a proud Hackney Carriage owner, has been driving for nearly four years after spending over two decades running successful takeaways across Chorley. With a lifelong passion for food and business, he now brings that same dedication to providing excellent taxi services and supporting community projects. In March 2024, Javeed made headlines for rescuing someone from a burning car, a true act of bravery that reflects his selfless commitment to helping others.

Known across Chorley as the ‘Taxi King’, Shakail is a highly respected businessman with nearly 20 years of experience in the taxi trade. A former newsagent owner turned industry leader, he brings sharp business acumen, strong leadership, and unmatched local knowledge to everything he does. With more than 18 years as both an operator and driver, Shak’s dedication, professionalism, and warm personality have made him a true legend and a trusted, respected name in Chorley’s growing and ever-evolving taxi community

Treasurer - Akeel Ahmed
Akeel, a proud Chorley resident, has over 15 years of experience in the taxi trade and is well known for his hard work, honesty, and reliability. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he played an important role helping the community through Tesco’s emergency response efforts, showing real dedication and care for others. As Operations Manager at a private hire firm, Akeel brings great leadership, experience, and passion to the CTA, helping improve teamwork, service, and safety across Chorley’s strong and growing taxi network.

Trustee - Aminur Rahman
Aminur is a dedicated taxi driver from Chorley with over 12 years of experience, including operating several Hackney Carriages across the borough. Known for his professionalism, friendly nature, and calm approach, he takes pride in providing safe, reliable service and believes driver safety is just as important as passenger care. Beyond driving, Aminur is also a qualified chef with a strong passion for food, service, and community work, often helping with local projects that make a real difference in Chorley.

With 17 years of experience as a Hackney Carriage driver in Chorley, Wajid is known for his hard work, honesty, and great service to the community. He has also managed his own private hire company and is highly experienced in wheelchair-accessible work, giving him strong knowledge of the taxi trade from both a driver’s and operator’s view. His professionalism and friendly nature earn respect across Chorley’s taxi community.

With over 35 years in the taxi trade, Yaqoob Illahi is one of Chorley’s most experienced and respected private hire drivers. He has operated several private hire businesses and managed multiple Hackney carriages, demonstrating his depth of knowledge and dedication to the industry. Before helping to establish the CTA, Yaqoob served as a representative for Chorley’s taxi trade, tirelessly advocating for drivers and shaping fairer standards across the borough.

Khaleel, a proud former owner of a Hackney Carriage with over 20 years of experience in the taxi trade, brings deep understanding and real-world insight to his work. An experienced educator and now a respected lecturer, he is skilled at identifying and addressing the challenges faced by students and educational institutions. Passionate about community and progress, Khaleel proudly supports the great work of the Chorley Taxi Association, serving as a valued and active board member.

Communications & Media Lead - Ayaz Malik
With over ten years of experience owning Hackney Carriages, private hire cars, and running taxi operations, Ayaz knows the trade inside out. After nearly twenty years in the aviation and motor industry, he’s earned recognition for his creativity and innovation. Alongside his career, Ayaz supports the Chorley community through his design work and active role with the Chorley Taxi Association, helping drivers grow and work together.
