Taxi Lancashire Safety Study
In November 2024, we joined forces with the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) to dig into what people really think about using taxis across Lancashire and we’ve had an amazing response!
The project, led by Professor Joanne Westwood and Dr Helen Richardson Foster from UCLan’s Connect Centre, was all about understanding how safe people feel when using taxis and what we can do to make every journey even safer.
Our very own team at CTA, helped spark the idea. Our goal? Simple to make sure taxi travel in Lancashire is the safest, friendliest, and most trusted way to get around.
Hundreds of people took part in our short, anonymous survey throughout November, sharing their honest thoughts and experiences. That feedback is now helping shape real improvements for passengers and drivers alike.
Massive thanks to everyone who got involved, you’ve helped kickstart something really positive for our local taxi industry and the people we serve.
Findings From the Study
July 2025, results was published by the University.
“Ever wondered who’s behind the wheel when the lights come on? Our new report takes you on a ride through Lancashire’s taxi-traveller experiences. With 600 voices heard, evening trips, personal questions mid-ride, and route mysteries revealed, we uncover what truly makes passengers feel safe (or not) when hailing a taxi. From ‘licence-check apps’ to CCTV-equipped cars, it’s time to turn every journey into a smooth, confident ride.”
